ERR_CERT_INVALID Chrome Edge

If you run into the NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID error in Chrome or Edge, sometimes you can click Advanced then Continue Anyway if it is a site you trust. What happens when there’s no Continue Anyway button and you’re on a trusted or internal site that just uses a self-signed certificate?

The error page might include something like this in Chrome:

You cannot visit 10.10.10.10 at the moment because the website sent scrambled credentials that Google Chrome cannot process.
NET::ERR_CERT_INVALID

After clicking Advanced, you’ll see something like:

10.10.10.10 normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Google Chrome tried to connect to 10.10.10.10 this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be 10.10.10.10, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Google Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.

You cannot visit 10.10.10.10 at the moment because the website sent scrambled credentials that Google Chrome cannot process. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.

The error page might look like this in Edge:

Attackers might be trying to steal your information from 10.10.10.10 (for example, passwords, messages, or credit cards).
