Tech Tip: Faster App Startup Windows 8 and Windows 10 1Ever since Windows Vista, Microsoft has added a startup delay for apps. This remains true in Windows 8 and even the new Windows 10 Technical Preview. The good news is that you can do a simple registry tweak to disable this startup delay.

If you have a lot of startup processes then this could actually slow down your boot process. It is ideal for those of you that have Windows installed on an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive.

Here’s how you do the registry tweak:

1.Right click on the Start button, select Run

2.Type regedit and hit the Enter key (or OK button)

3.Go to the following Registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerSerialize

If the "Serialize" key does not exist, you should create it in "Explorer" by right clicking on Explorer: New > Key (name it Serialize).

4.Create a new DWORD value in the Serialize key called StartupDelayInMSec and set it to 0.
