Today I’ll be looking at the QacQoc GN30H USB-C Hub which offers pass-through USB-C charging, 3 USB 3.0 ports, 4K HDMI, Ethernet, and SDHC/microSDHC ports in a portable package. I’ll be using this adapter with a 2017 Touchbar Macbook, but it is also compatible with the HuaWei MateBook, and Google Chromebook.
The QacQoc GN30H USB-C Hub has a built-in USB-C cable to connect it to the laptop and offers one USB-C port. I plugged in the Macbook charger and this device did pass-through charging, allowing it to charge my Macbook without needing to use another USB-C port on the Macbook. This is a nice feature to keep the laptop’s USB-C ports open for other devices.
The QacQoc GN30H USB-C Hub comes with 3 generous USB 3.0 ports allowing you to plugin your regular USB devices. While testing file transfer speeds, I didn’t notice any slowdowns and the files transferred at the fast USB 3.0 speeds.
The ethernet adapter worked quickly and without the need to install 3rd party drivers on the Macbook. After plugging the cable in, the Mac detected the connection and connected within seconds.
While testing the 4K HDMI port, video playback was smooth and crisp.
As seen in the image above, the QacQoc GN30H USB-C Hub has a dim blue light when you connect it to the laptop.
The only concern I have with this device is the heat. After using it for 10 minutes for pass-through charging and network connection, it does get slightly warm to the touch, but not extremely hot by any means. It also would have been nice to have a couple of extra USB-C ports on the device that support video output for dual USB-C monitors.
You can purchase the QacQoc GN30H USB-C Hub through their website for $72.99.
