FCC Approves Net Neutrality Rules

Net-Neutrality

Back in November, I wrote an article titled “Net Neutrality Political Battleground“. If you remember, net neutrality was all over the news and it all stemmed from a Tweet that Senator Ted Cruz made calling net neutrality “Obamacare for the internet”. Net neutrality is a good thing for the end users (consumers), and today, the FCC agreed.

The FCC has voted to reclassify broadband internet under Title II which gives the regulatory body authority to impose rules over broadband providers. The new rules are designed to make sure that the internet remains free of blocking, throttling and paid prioritization. You can read some of the links I posted in my previous article which break down all the technical terms.

I’m sure this ruling will be challenged in courts by the big broadband providers like Verizon and Comcast, but as it stands now, there will be regulations in place to keep the internet in place as we know it.
